Sri Lanka’s apparel export industry is one of the key sectors of the country’s economy, having recorded substantial growth over the past four decades. The value of the sector reached $5.42 billion after exports rose 22.93 percent year-on year in 2021.

The apparel manufacturing sector of Sri Lanka is currently the country’s leading export industry, accounting for approximately 44 percent of total exports, and providing about 33 percent of the manufacturing employment in the country.
